Acclaimed filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan is set to return to the prestigious Cannes Film Festival with his latest feature, Homebound. The film, starring Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, and Vishal Jethwa, has been officially selected for the 78th edition of the festival and will be screened in the ‘Un Certain Regard’ section—a category renowned for celebrating visionary and artistically daring cinema from around the globe.
Homebound marks a significant milestone for its cast and crew, especially Ishaan Khatter, who shared his excitement on social media, calling the film his “most challenging part yet.” He described the project as one born from “pure intention, grit, compassion, and truth,” and expressed pride in reuniting with Dharma Productions after seven years. The selection at Cannes also serves as a meaningful homecoming for Ghaywan, whose breakout film Masaan won two awards in the same category back in 2015.
The film is both written and directed by Ghaywan, with additional writing contributions from Gaurav Solanki, Ankur Pathak, and Vidushak. Produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra, Homebound also features co-producers Marijke de Souza and Melita Toscan Du Plantier. With its emotionally resonant storytelling and strong performances, the film is expected to make a mark at the festival’s international platform.
As anticipation builds, Homebound adds to the growing list of Indian films making waves globally, reinforcing the country's presence in contemporary world cinema. The 78th Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to run from May 13 to May 24, where Ghaywan and his team will once again walk the red carpet, this time with a new story poised to move hearts and spark conversation.
